Description

‘The petrol burned my skin; it was eating away at me. Cleansing my dirty body. The skin was flaking away, but the blood from the cut on my wrist was drying up. I felt so drained, so weak. But all I needed was the energy to finish what I'd started. Total freedom was so close...'

There is only one photograph of Joshua Cole as a child, and for legal reasons it has been disguised for the front cover of this book.

Joshua (Not his birth name) was what they called a mistake; unwanted and unexpected. From as far back as he could remember he was a nobody, a devil child who was programmed to exist only to please the adults who subjected him to incessant abuse in its worst forms: physical, sexual, and psychological.

At the age of 17, after an attempt on his own life, Joshua was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, a condition affecting as many people as diabetes, but relatively unheard of.

No One Knows is the story of one man's fight to overcome overwhelming odds and to support, inform and educate the many people who battle with the same condition. It is an inspirational account of the strength of the human spirit.

Customer Feedback

"A moving account of how child abuse continues to affect someone through their adult life and of the desperation and loneliness sufferers of BPD face. This book tells of how the author is supported by and let down by services even after a lithium OD. Joshua is determined to find answers and received compensation after making a formal complaint to social services. It is a factual account, not one of the 'feel sorry for me' types and the author finds the strength to help others suffering from BPD. A real and inspirational book".  Ms Sue Starr, UK

"This book was an interesting read. It was highly descriptive of someone suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder. It is helpful in seeing the symptoms of BPD such as black and white thinking, impulsiveness, suicidal gestures, self-harm, etc.

The introduction is rough around the edges, and hooked my attention. I wasn't expecting such a startling beginning. But, it really lets you know what the author went through and how much he struggled". Anonymous, UK

"An emotional read but superbly written, it takes such courage to be so open and honest". L Bennett, UK
